One of the most frequent questions we receive is: how much does it cost to rent a boat in Barcelona? The answer depends on several factors, but in this guide we explain everything with real prices for 2025.

Factors determining the price

Before talking numbers, it’s important to understand what variables affect the cost:

  • Type of boat: sailboat, catamaran, speedboat or yacht
  • With or without skipper: renting without a skipper requires a nautical license
  • Duration: single hours, half day or full day
  • Number of people: more capacity, generally higher price
  • Season: summer is more expensive than winter
  • What’s included: skipper, fuel, drinks, food…

Reference prices in Barcelona

This is the most comfortable option: you and your group enjoy while a qualified skipper takes care of navigating.

Type of tripDurationApproximate price
Sunset cruise3 hoursFrom €300
Half day4 hoursFrom €500
Full day8 hoursFrom €999

These prices are for the whole boat, not per person, and usually include skipper and fuel. Drinks and snacks are sometimes included and sometimes separate.

Boat without skipper (bareboat)

If you have a nautical license (PNB or higher), you can rent without a skipper at a reduced price. This option starts from about €600/day for a sailboat for up to 11 people.

E-Foil and individual activities

For activities like e-foil, the price is per person: from €90/hour with instructor and all equipment included.

What is usually included in the price?

At Nautiq Barcelona our prices always include:

  • ✅ Qualified skipper and liability insurance
  • ✅ Fuel for the route
  • ✅ Non-alcoholic drinks on board
  • ✅ Snacks
  • ✅ Accident insurance for crew members

What is normally not included and can be hired as an extra:

  • Food (catering on board)
  • Premium alcoholic drinks
  • Water activities (kayak, snorkeling, paddleboard)
  • Transfers to the port

Is it expensive to rent a boat?

Put into perspective: if you are 6 people on a day charter of €999, it comes out to €166 per person for a full day in the Mediterranean. Compared to a day at a water park or a dinner at a high-end restaurant, the value for money is excellent.

For larger groups of 10-11 people, the cost per person drops even further.

High season vs. low season

Prices can vary between 20% and 40% depending on the time of year:

  • High season (June-September): higher prices, book in advance
  • Mid season (April-May, October): good weather and more affordable prices
  • Low season (November-March): minimum prices, quiet days at sea

How to get the best price

  1. Book in advance, especially in summer
  2. Come on weekdays if you have flexibility (cheaper than weekends)
  3. Group more people so the cost per person goes down
  4. Choose mid season: the weather is still good and prices are better
